Insp Kevin Rankin
A new inspector is leading the Oldham East neighbourhood policing team.
Insp Kevin Rankin brings 25 years of policing experience, and spent most of his career in the tactical aid and firearms units.
He moved to Oldham from Tameside where he was part of the Tameside West and Hyde neighbourhood policing teams.
He said: “I became a neighbourhood officer because I want to make a difference in the communities I serve and improve the quality of life for residents, something I feel I achieved in my previous role on the Tameside division.
“Over the next few months I intend to attend as many public meetings as possible to meet residents and listen to their concerns.”
“A big part of my job is to ensure that we feedback to residents about what we’ve done to solve crime and anti-social behaviour issues in their neighbourhood.”
As well as an Oldham-wide crackdown on off-road biking, he will also tackle anti-social behaviour.
He added: “We have increased our presence in problem areas and by working with the council, a number of activities have been organised to keep young people out of trouble during the summer.”
He replaces Insp Mark Davies who is moving to another job within Greater Manchester Police.
