Fire station hit by flood
Date published: 13 August 2009
FIREFIGHTERS found themselves dealing with an emergency extremely close to home — when a burst water main flooded Oldham Fire Station.
They returned to their Lees Road base from tackling a small electrical fire between 4am and 6.45am this morning to find a section of Tarmac in the road had been ripped up and water was pouring into the station.
It was all hands to the pumps as the hard-working firefighters mopped up the deluge — while still turning out to other calls.
A spokesman said: “The water just came flooding in. It was a lot of mess for us to clear up.”
