Doggedly determined to support hospital appeal

Four legs will be better than two when a beauty pageant with a difference is held at Foxdenton Park in Chadderton.
The charity dog show has been organised by dog groomer Sarah Ogden and will even include a Jordan-style wedding for her Chinese crested pet, Nancy.
The only thing missing is a groom — so Sarah will have a special class to find the best beau.
The judge for the bridegroom class will be Sarah’s business partner and dog-handler Gillian Stephenson.
There will be up to seven different classes at the show on August 29, which starts at noon and run until 4pm.
All the money raised will go to the Christie’s at Oldham appeal, and there will be a charge of £1.50 for each dog in each class.
Sarah said: “They include fancy dress, the person who looks most like their dog, waggiest tail, and best six legs.
“Everyone wins a rosette and they can bring any dog along, mongrel, cross breed or pure bred. The prizes include hair cuts for you and your dog, dog beds, vouchers and hampers. There will also be a bouncy castle and barbecue.
“And a guy who’s had a moustache for 30 years, Graham Crowe, has offered to have it shaved off on the day and he’s already raised £200.”
