Takeaway will be ‘too smelly’
Date published: 17 August 2009
Plans for another town centre takeaway, open until 5am, have been sent to Oldham Council.
But the authority’s pollution control section has objected because noise and smells could disturb the people living in the flat above the shop in Union Street.
The former shop premises, currently unused, would be converted into a hot food takeaway open between 11am until 5am on Saturdays, and until 2am the rest of the week.
Officers say they have to consider if the takeaway would impact on people living upstairs.
Pollution control recommended refusal because the noise and the opening hours, would adversely affect people upstairs.
