Make a PACT to make a difference
Date published: 17 August 2009
Residents in East Oldham are being encouraged to have have their say on community matters at the new Partners and Communities Together meeting on Wednesday.
Known as PACT meetings, or ward forums, PACTS give residents a chance to speak out in an informal setting.
East Oldham covers the wards of St James, St Mary’s and Waterhead.
Councillor Mohammed Masud, Oldham Council’s East Oldham Community Champion, said: “The PACT allows people to raise their concerns by reporting them directly to their local councillor or other agencies working in the area.
“We also want thoughts on wider neighbourhood issues, so the evening will also involve some smaller discussion groups, for people to talk about their local area, as well as about issues such as community safety and what facilities are available to them.”
The information will be used to help the East Oldham District Partnership set priorities for funding and staffing resources.
At the meetings there will be local councillors, police, and partners including housing providers and council officers. The meeting is at 7pm at Groundwork, Shaw Road, Oldham.
