Trampoline lad impaled on fence

A TEN-YEAR-OLD boy bounced off a trampoline and impaled his wrist on a metal fence.
Fire fighters spent an hour cutting part of the fence-post free, and the boy was taken to hospital with it still attached to his arm.
The horrific accident happened at 12.45pm on Friday in Waterton Lane, Mossley.
The boy, from Dukinfield, was playing with friends when he flew off the trampoline and crashed on to the fence.
Mossley Fire Station crew manager Howard Smith said: “He got his arm impaled on the fence post. He was quite badly hurt.
“We had to cut a section of the metal fence away either side of his arm because paramedics were reluctant to release him at the scene because it was near to blood vessels. He seemed OK but a little bit shocked.”
A North-West Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “A 10-year-old boy had seemingly jumped from a trampoline and landed on a fence and impaled his wrist.”
She added that it was believed the boy would make a full recovery.
