A TEENAGER has been arrested in connection with the death of a Moorside boy who was hit by a car as he crossed the road in Lees earlier this year.
Christopher Dale, of Bramble Avenue, was killed when he crossed Lees Road in Salem at its junction with Wellyhole Street on June 13.
The 15-year-old, who had said he wanted to be the prime minister one day, was an outstanding Year 10 pupil at Bluecoat School and on track to receive top grades in his GCSEs.
His parents, Michael and Andrea and sister Rebecca, said they were devastated by his death.
Speaking shortly after his death, Mrs Dale said: “Christopher was kind, funny and very loving, with a brilliant sense of humour and who loved playing the guitar.
“We will miss him so much, I don’t know how we are ever going to cope. He was such a bright boy, I knew he would be able to go far. This has robbed us of our chance of finding out.”
A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed until October 22 pending further inquiries.
Anyone who witnessed the incident at 10.15pm on June 13 is asked to call the Road Policing Unit on 0161-856 8473.
