The Lee Street temple
Oldham’s Hindu temple in Lee Street wants to branch out to provide a youth and sports centre for younger members.
The 32-year-old Shree Swaminarayam temple (pictured), in a former Victorian school, is applying for planning permission for a single storey extension. It would include a covered entrance foyer, disabled toilets and the youth and sports hall. The extension would have a pitched roof in brick and slate to match the existing building.
Proposers say that currently the younger members have to use the temple hall, which disrupts other activities.
