A-level stars Alex Vickers and Rebecca Collins are off to Cambridge after gaining four grade As at North Chadderton School.
Alex (18), from Royton, will study medicine for six years and Rebecca (18), from Chadderton, will study English.
She is the first member of her family to go to university, and aims to be a solicitor as she is already doing work experience with a Manchester law firm.
Rebecca, who also gained two B-grades, said: “I’m delighted, but I was confident because I did a lot of work.
“I’ll be going out tonight with my mum and dad.”
Alex has a good medical background, having a dad who is a GP, a mum who is a speech therapist, and a nurse, another GP and psychiatrist among his family.
He said: “I’m ecstatic. I’m giving a speech at an 18th birthday party for my two best mates tomorrow so that should be a good time to celebrate.”
