THE future looks bright for Crompton House high-fliers Rose Edge and Thomas Partington.
The brainy pair are Oxbridge-bound after gaining exceptional results at the Rochdale Road school.
Rose scooped A-grades in biology, English language, religious studies and general studies and is looking forward to studying for a degree in philosophy and theology at Queens College, Oxford.
Thomas will study engineering at Downing College, Cambridge, after gaining As in maths, chemistry and physics and a B in further maths.
Seven fellow students achieved four A grades — Claire Booth, who will study economics at Durham, Nathaniel Crawford, who will study international business finance and economics at Manchester University, Helen Daly, who will study English literature at York University, Rebekah Hayes, who will study linguistics at Manchester University, Kate Johnstone, who will study management at Lancaster University, James Jones, who will study astro physics at Sheffield University, and Lucy Newton, who will study law at Warwick University.
This year the school has a 98 per cent pass rate with 52 per cent A and B-grades.
Head teacher Elsie Tough said: “I am very pleased with these results. They are our best results for a number of years. The students and staff have worked very hard for the past two years and the school is incredibly proud of them. Almost all of our 160 Year 13 students will go to university this autumn and they deserve to be very pleased.”
