A-levels party is called off

AN Oldham nightclub cancelled an A-level party featuring free booze last night after being threatened with closure by Oldham Council.
Council chiefs described the intended bash at Mink nightclub (formerly Livingstone’s), in Fairbottom Street, which was promoted on social networking sites, as irresponsible.
But today Councillor Mark Alcock said: “As I understand it, it was a promotion company that was running it. The manager did not know about it and withdrew it as soon as he found out.
“I feel sorry for the manager but I’m glad it has not gone ahead.
“I did not want to be a party pooper but we had to look after these people that are not used to drinking copious amounts of alcohol in a short period.”
