Accident verdict over death fall
Date published: 24 August 2009
A CHADDERTON man was found dead at the bottom of a flight of stairs after he drank 10 pints in the space of three hours and lost his footing.
Stephen Hamnett (40) was found dead at the foot of some stairs in a communal area in flats at Butler Green on July 27 last year after suffering a brain haemorrhage.
The inquest heard that Mr Hamnett was taking prescribed medication including anti depressants and it is thought that the combination of these drugs and the alcohol made him unsteady on his feet. Coroner Simon Nelson recorded a verdict of accidental death.
