A snap decision to enter a photo competition developed into a free holiday for a Chadderton aerospace employee.
Philip King, who works at BAe Systems in Greengate, and is a member of the company’s photographic club, captured these rearing horses during a dressage display in Manchester.
The horses, from Ibiza, were part of a Balearic Islands’ festival in Albert Square over May Day bank Holiday weekend.
And Mr King (48), a materials engineer who has worked at BAe for 23 years, entered the shot into an on-line competition, winning the first prize of a week’s all-inclusive holiday in Majorca.
When he arrived on the Spanish island, he and his wife Barbara (48) were whisked from the airport to their hotel, the Playa de Muro Village near Alcudia.
Mr King, from Chadderton, said: “We were met by the Minister for tourism and the hotel manager.
“They wanted to know if the recent bombing campaign by ETA would stop people from coming, but I said I didn’t think so, mainly it would be the economic climate.
“We had a very relaxing holiday. We could have eaten from 7 30 am to 10 30 pm, but we spent a lot of time lying by the pool.
“We last visited Majorca 26 years ago.
This holiday was very pleasant and certainly well worth making a snap decision to enter my photo in the contest.
