Traffic warden’s road rage punch

AN off-duty traffic warden who chased a driving instructor and then punched him in a road rage incident, faces the sack.

And Jason Pheasey’s actions were caught on CCTV, magistrates were told.

The father-of-two chased driving instructor Peter Robinson who had accused him of jumping a red light.

Pheasey rang colleagues in the CCTV operations room and asked them to focus their cameras on him in Moston one morning last May.

And they captured him getting out of his car and punching Mr Robinson in the mouth gashing his lip and damaging his dentures.

Pheasey (30), of Fields New Road, Chadderton, escaped a prison sentence after it was said he would probably get sacked for his “moment of madness”.

He admitted assaulting Mr Robinson causing him bodily harm and was given a three month 7pm-6am curfew with £60 costs.

Manchester Magistrates’ Court chairman Roger Walker also ordered him to pay £250 compensation to Mr Robinson and told him: “This was a dreadful act, you are lucky not to be going to prison.”

Prosecutor Paul Mitchell said Pheasey had blocked the victim forcing him to stop before hitting him, leaving him with a permanent scar. In a statement, Mr Robinson, of Failsworth, said the incident had left him shocked and he had lost some of his confidence when driving.

Tim Hopley, defending, said Pheasey, who was £32,000 in debt, was facing disciplinary action and likely to lose his job. Pheasey was also ordered to pay a further £200 to cover the losses of earnings of Mr Robinson and his employers.
