Woman ‘stupid to drive’

A recruitment consultant told a court she was stupid to drive after drinking for four hours in a Manchester bar.
Katie Beswick (22), who was nearly three times over the limit, was seen swerving about the road on her way home through Newton Heath.
She told Manchester Magistrates Court: “I would never have forgiven myself if I had hurt anybody — I deserve everything that comes my way.”
Beswick, of Heversham Avenue, Shaw, pleaded guilty to drink driving and was fined £500 with £60 costs and banned for two years.
Lauren Ward-Jones, defending, said Beswick, who had been drinking wine, had been shocked at her high reading.
Magistrates told her: “There was potential harm to the public through your bad driving.”
