Hunt for rooftop burglar
Date published: 31 August 2009
Police have launched a hunt to find their number one suspect — a rooftop burglar who has stolen from homes in Oldham.
Stephen Brady (44), from Morecambe, is wanted in connection with a series of burglaries in Oldham, Prestwich, Whitefield, Bury and Lancaster.
Police say he is a prolific offender, suspected of climbing on to house roofs and using a brick to smash his way in.
He is known around north Manchester, Salford and Bury and may have associates in those areas.
Det Insp Marcus Noden, of Operation Storm — the Greater Manchester force-wide scheme to drive down burglaries and raise convictions — said: “Brady is currently our number one burglary target and we want him caught.
“Burglary is a dreadful crime and leaves so many victims with the sickening feeling of having their homes violated. I am now appealing to anyone who recognises Brady’s picture, or who knows of his whereabouts, to call us immediately.
“Burglary across the force is decreasing, but we are not becoming complacent.
“The message is simple — we know who you are, we know where you live and if you commit a crime, you will be targeted and brought to justice.”
Anyone with information should call Greater Manchester Police on 0161-872 5050 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
