REVELLERS were singing and dancing in the rain at charity bash to help the fight against life-threatening childhood diseases.
Around 2,000 people braved bad weather to attend the annual festival organised by the Dog and Partridge pub in Constantine Street, Greenacres.
Sunday’s event was opened by Oldham Athletic players Chris Taylor and Deane Smalley who were joined by Mayor of Oldham Jim McArdle and Youth Mayor Mohammed Adil. Attractions included a children’s fun day, stalls and tombolas as well as a Music for Life gig headlined by the band Sold as Seen.
In the last eight years the pub has raised more than £200,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and KidsCan, which supports research into new treatments for children with cancer.
This year’s total is still being added up and landlord Dave Giblin said: “The weather was awful but the spirits were good. People did stay. They were dancing in the rain and it was well supported.”
