Gallery Oldham’s Open Exhibition curator Joy Thorpe looks throgh some of the hundreds of submissions
HUNDREDS of local artists beat this week’s deadline for submissions for this year’s Oldham Open Art Exhibition.
Gallery Oldham’s Joy Thorpe and her team will now spend the rest of the month sifting through the paintings, sculptures, craft works and photographs, before the exhibition opens on September 26.
“Anyone living or working in Oldham was eligible to enter up to two works — and depending on available space, everyone will get at least one of their submitted works on to the gallery walls until November 28,” explained Joy.
The Oldham Open attracts hobby artists and professionals alike, whose works are hung side-by-side in a mixture of portraits, still lifes, abstracts and landscapes.
