Oldham Works: A Chronicle campaign to boost Oldham, its business and its people
THE Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Jim McArdle, raised a glass to business success in Oldham as he officially opened offices in a new £1.5 million redevelopment.
As revealed in the Evening Chronicle, Windsor Works in Gravel Walks, Mumps, has been transformed from a decaying Victorian mill into plush homes and offices.
The Mayor was on hand to open Web Applications, an Internet business with more than 30 staff that has taken over the whole of the first floor after relocating from Hollinwood Business Centre.
The two-storey building has been turned into 10 residential apartments and two floors of commercial office space by Heywood firm Dalby Developments Ltd.
The project, which retains and enhances many of the mill’s original features, is seen as setting the standard for the regeneration of an area earmarked by the Oldham Beyond report as key in raising the profile for Oldham. Eight of the 10 apartments and 75 per cent of the commercial space are let.
