NINE has always been Mary Brown’s lucky number!
NINE has always been Mary Brown’s lucky number and today the plucky pensioner turns 99 on 9/9/09.
The independent great-grandmother, who lives in Crescent Road, Chadderton, with her grandson Robert, moved to Oldham from Edinburgh in 1946 when her late husband, William, took a job in a local bakery.
In her heyday Mary, a tailoress by trade, enjoyed dancing at weekends and was a proud choir member at St George’s Church, Broadway.
She will celebrate her birthday with her four grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Her daughter, Elizabeth Buckley, died 20 years ago.
