A grateful kidney patient has arranged a special event to thank doctors and nurses at the Royal Oldham Hospital, and raise money for charity.
Karen Shore has booked the Hollinwood and South Chadderton Conservative Club, Stanley Road, Chadderton, tomorrow (1-5pm), and arranged raffles and entertainment.
Artistes include Jimmy Semple, Daniel Fox, Matthew Shaw, The Kopycat Kinks and Sax’s Alike.
Among the prizes are pairs of tickets to an Odeon cinema, Oldham Athletic home game and a rugby match, plus a signed and framed photograph from Manchester City manager Mark Hughes.
Karen was admitted to the hospital last year with pylonephritis — a condition which affects the kidneys — and is still an outpatient.
She said: “I have seen the fantastic work that everyone does so I wanted to do something for the community. I found the National Kidney Federation, which is a charity run by patients who are receiving treatment for various kidney conditions.
“I decided to organise a charity event and have done just that with a lot of hard work and determination.”
