‘Penniless’ artist was a millionaire
Date published: 11 September 2009
A ‘penniless’ artist whose controversial portraits of tramps and women were shown at Gallery Oldham last year has left £6.5 million. Eccentric Robert Lenkiewicz had no bank account when he died in 2002 and had only £12 to his name.
But his executors have spent seven years cataloguing his personal belongings which include art works and a £1 million book collection.
