TRAGIC loss . . . Lisa Humphries
A DEVOTED mother of two died following a sudden illness while on holiday in America.
The funeral of Lisa Humphries (39) will take place at St Mary’s Church, High Crompton, on Monday, at 11.30am.
Friends and family are invited to join the thanksgiving for Lisa’s life in keeping with the joy and happiness she brought to everyone and have specified that mourners needn’t wear black clothes.
Lisa’s young sons, Jack and Charlie, have both suffered from spinal muscular atrophy since birth and are confined to their electronic wheelchairs.
The condition damages nerves in the spinal cord and breaks the link between the nerves and the brain leading to muscle wastage.
Earlier this year, the Evening Chronicle featured Lisa’s campaign to stop drivers blocking dropped kerbs near her High Crompton home and making her sons’ journey to school almost impossible.
Lisa’s family, including husband David, parents Sue and Don and brother Matthew, have requested that donations be made to The Jennifer Trust, a charity which funds research into the causes and possible treatments of spinal muscular atrophy, in lieu of flowers.
