MASKED men threatened a man with a handgun while attempting to rob a café in Chadderton.
Two men went into Mamma’s Café in Parkgate just after 11pm on Wednesday
They demanded cash from the 57-year-old worker and pointed a handgun at him.
The offenders tried unsuccessfully to open the till before smashing a window and running out of the café.
Nothing was stolen and no one was injured.
Det-Con Kate Dawson, from Oldham CID, said: “These offenders terrified the victim by pointing what looked like a handgun at him.
“Although no shots were fired and nothing was stolen, these men are clearly dangerous and need to be caught before they decide to try anything like this again.”
The offender with the handgun is described as white, aged in his early 20s, around 5ft 11in tall and of slim build. He was wearing a black balaclava, black jeans and a black jacket.
The second offender is described as white, aged in his early 20s, around 5ft 4in tall and of slim build. He was also wearing a black balaclava, black jeans and a black jacket.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Oldham CID on 0161-856 8951 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555 111.
