POLICE have launched a fresh appeal into the cause of a fire which led to two families being evacuated from flats in Coldhurst.
Rubbish was set alight in the stairwell of a block of flats in Rochdale Road at 6.40am on September 2.
Eleven residents were rescued from the flats, including several young children. Det Con Kate Dawson said: “This fire appears to have been started by rubbish being set alight. We are appealing for anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity around the flats.”
