THE new and old faces of Werneth sit cheek by jowl as the Housing Market Renewal programme starts to alter the landscape.
The £8 million development, on land bounded by Suthers Street, Alfred Street and Parson Street, includes 63 eco-friendly homes.
Solar panels fitted to the homes will reduce fuel bills, and green materials will be used in their construction. The development is expected to achieve the Eco-homes “very good” standard.
There is a mix of 47 three, four and five-bedroom houses along with 16 two-bedroom flats.
All the houses have private gardens and a home zone will be created in which pedestrians and vehicles will have equal priority.
To encourage residents to use the outdoor space it has been landscaped with trees, shrubs and seating.
Residents affected by Housing Market Renewal were given priority to buy or rent the properties.
