Lost parrot in a flap over Shaw
Date published: 18 September 2009
A Shaw householder is concerned after a lost parrot adopted trees at the back of her home as a feeding ground.
Vivien Orriss of Farrow Street, says the bird first appeared over a week ago and she is concerned it will not survive when winter comes.
Mrs Orriss, who has tried unsuccessfully to capture the bird, said: “It is light and dark green with a red beak and it is eating berries in the trees.
“I am going to call the RSPCA because I am concerned it won’t survive the winter.
“It seems quiet and it may already be feeling the cold. Someone may be missing a pet.
“I have tried to get hold of it but it won’t come to me.
“There is a bowling green behind me and it has also been in trees around there.”
