Oldham’s got the art-factor

ARTISTIC talent in Oldham will be celebrated later this month at an exhibition featuring local artists.
The Oldham Open from September 26 to November 28 will feature work by artists who live and work in the borough.
Gallery Oldham hosts an Oldham Open exhibition every two years and showcases work in a variety of media from drawing, painting and photography to ceramics, jewellery and sculpture.
This year, more than 300 artworks have been submitted for entry, and at least one piece of work from every artist will be shown and much of the work is for sale.
This year also sees a significant contribution from a number of Saddleworth based artists, including Peter Stanaway, Gillian Haywood, Kevin Haynes, Janis Bowie and John McCombs.
Visitors to the Oldham Open can vote for their favourite work in a ballot for the People’s Prize.
Arts and Crafts on Bow Street in Oldham have supported the winner’s prize and have donated a voucher to spend at the shop..
There is an exhibition launch of the show on September, 29 6pm to 8.30pm.
The event is free, there is no need to book and refreshments will be served.
