Busking for the hospice
Date published: 22 September 2009
THE search is on for an Oldhamer with the X factor.
Dr Kershaw’s Hospice wants to bring the streets of Oldham to life with local talent to mark World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, on October 10.
The theme — discovering your voice — prompted hospice bosses to launch a talent competition with a difference.
They are seeking buskers to perform around the borough to boost hospice funds, and the winner will be the act that raises the most.
The prize at stake is a slot performing on Oldham Community Radio.
Entry is free, and all the money raised will help Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.
Allegra Holbrook, community fundraiser for Dr Kershaw’s, said: “This is an exciting opportunity to celebrate the diverse talent of our community, and a fun way to raise funds.”
