Flyover jump threat
Date published: 23 September 2009
TRAFFIC in the town centre was stopped last night when a man threatened to jump from the Oldham Way flyover.
Police were called to the footbridge just before 6pm after the man threatened to throw himself off the 50ft-high flyover. A police negotiator talked to the man at the scene and he climbed down at 6.13pm before being taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital.
Traffic restrictions on West End Street and Featherstall Road and on the flyover were lifted shortly after.
