Celebrations at the fund-raising night
AN all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza raised £1,500 for the Christie at Oldham Appeal.
Motown band Stax of Soul entertained revellers at Envy in Waterloo Street while local businesses donated prizes for raffles and auctions.
These included football shirts signed by Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney, a Latics shirt signed by all the players and a caravaning holiday. The event, which was organised by Lees firm Car Tax Radio Cars, also included demonstrations of rumba, cha cha and samba by members of Royton-based dance studio Trujons.
Envy manager Adele Lord said: “The night was absolutely fantastic and well supported by the local community. Everyone chipped in to ensure that the maximum amount of money was raised for Christie’s — even our DJs played without charge.
“Eric Hawed and Farooq Yousef from Car Tax have worked really hard to make this a success and we are very proud to have been able to offer our venue to two people that are obviously committed to helping local worthwhile causes.”
Eric and Farouk are now planning a Christmas fund-raising event and welcome any offer from businesses of prizes that they could use in the raffle.
