Getting the message across
West Oldham police officers visited Tesco’s Featherstall Road store to hand out crime-prevention advice and promote an anti-burglary campaign.
The Bang Up Burglars van has been driving around the borough encouraging residents to report any suspicious activity in their area. The campaign is part of Operation Storm — a force-wide initiative targeting burglary.
Sgt Trevor Harrison, of the Oldham West Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “I want to encourage people to ring the police and provide information on people who are actively committing crime in the Oldham area.
“I would also ask that people provide information about people who are trying to sell stolen goods.
“As the dark nights begin it is important that people remember to secure properties and if you are going out for the evening leave a light on and consider putting the radio or the TV on low for background noise. I would also encourage people look out for each other, especially vulnerable members of the community.
“We all need to be on our guard to prevent residents becoming victims of crime the police need the support of Oldham residents.”
