Derker residents come out in force to celebrate The Grange's 25 years
REVELLERS of all ages put their dancing shoes on to celebrate a special 25-year anniversary.
An action-packed bash at The Grange — a sheltered housing scheme in Bartlemore Street, Derker — welcomed guests from five months to 95.
There was singing from Blue Coat School choir, dancing by Oldham Aces, Wii console games with the Oldham Athletic Community Team and traditional family entertainment from the Flat Cap Three.
Food and drink was supplied free of charge by Tesco and pupils at Mayfield Primary put together a photo display of the area. Staff from Oldham Local Studies and Archives also helped residents to write their life story. Scheme manager Dorothy Dwayre was delighted.
She said: “Derker doesn’t get many opportunities to get together to celebrate like this. So we thought we should do something special for the whole community, many of whom have been part The Grange’s history over the last 25 years.
“It was great to see all generations having fun together.”
