Rocky meets dogs’ best friends
Date published: 01 October 2009
ROCKY the homeless hound may not have known much about it, but he met two of his protectors yesterday.
The stray, currently housed at Manchester Dogs’ Home, was introduced to Ian Millett (left), Oldham Council senior dog warden, and council leader Howard Sykes after the council won two prestigious awards in the annual RSPCA Community Animal Welfare scheme.
The council scooped Gold in both the Stray Dogs Footprint category, which covers policy and procedure for stray dog welfare, and the Contingency Planning Footprint category, in which the council has linked with animal welfare organisations.
