Bridal shop shuts again
Date published: 07 October 2009
A WEDDING shop has closed for the second time in a year.
Brides and Grooms, of Shaw, shut its doors for good last September after nearly 17 years of trading.
The Beal Lane store was later reopened as The Bridal Warehouse by a new owner but almost exactly one year on has suffered the same fate.
A notice to customers has been left in the window saying that everyone has been notified by post — but no phone number is given for them to call and check on orders.
It is not known if customers waiting for dresses for their big day have been affected. Messages left for the store’s owner by the Chronicle have gone unreturned while there is no answer from the Shaw shop or a sister store in Hyde.
The firm’s website boasts that customers can “buy your dream dress for less” and “our prices for famous designer wedding dresses cannot be beaten.”
It adds: “These prices are because we have purchased our stock in large volumes from our designers, which enables us to offer our discounts direct to our brides.”
