Maintenance work shuts bypass
Date published: 09 October 2009
THE entire length of Oldham Way will be closed on Sunday for maintenance work to be carried out.
The bypass will be shut from Featherstall Road North to Mumps Roundabout, and diversions during the work will be clearly signed.
Councillor Mark Alcock, cabinet member for environment and transportation, said: “The council would like to apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause, however, it is necessary from time to time to close Oldham Way so that vital work can be carried out.
“Instead of many separate, smaller closures this has been planned and co-ordinated between various council departments.
“This means that a range of work will be carried out including litter clearance, grass cutting, bridge maintenance, gully cleaning, street light maintenance and other minor highway work ensuring that Oldham Way is cleaner and safer as winter approaches.”
