Awards night for high-flying cadets

Michael Kostecky (cadet of the year) attached of Saddleworth Air Cadets who recently held their first Awards Presentation Ceremony. The awards were presented by Wing Commander S. Molloy; Keith Begley, Vice Chairman, Saddleworth Parish Council and Mr Phil Wiggett from Saddleworth Round Table.
SADDLEWORTH Air Cadets recently held its first awards presentation ceremony since the detached flight was formed in June last year.
Parents and invited guests heard about the activities the cadets had taken part in, including flying, gliding, RAF camps and the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.
The cadets were presented with certificates for their achievements during the year by Wing Commander Steve Molloy, Keith Begley, vice-chairman of Saddleworth Parish Council, and Phil Wiggett, of Saddleworth Round Table.
Andrew Claydon was given the best attendance award, Daniel Gamble was named most improved cadet, and Staff Sergeant Michael Kostecky won cadet of the year.
The cadets meet on Wednesday and Fridays at Diggle Band Club, at 7.30pm.
New cadets are welcome.
