A new trim trail and pitch at Greenacres School in Dunkerley Street was officially opened by Councillor Kay Knox, cabinet member for children, young people and families.
The event highlighted the final piece of work carried out to improve and refurbish the school.
In total, £900,000 has been invested in a new classroom, improved toilets, a family room and an improved office/reception area.
The refurbishments were funded as part of the redevelopment of the Huddersfield Road district centre and in particular the new Tesco store.
Councillor Knox said: “The pupils at Greenacres now have a greatly improved school building, while the new trim trail and pitch are the finishing touches to this scheme.
“I hope that all the children at Greenacres will enjoy their smarter school for many years to come.
