MEAL deal . . . Councillor Sykes gets stuck in with Phoebe and Joel Hollin from St Edward’s RC primary in Lees.
COUNCIL leader Howard Sykes tucked into a boiled egg and soldiers as part of a campaign to make school dinners free-range.
The council has banned the use of eggs from battery-farmed hens at all the borough’s primary and special schools.
The switch to free range eggs is part of the council’s commitment to animal welfare following the lead of national chains such as Starbucks, McDonalds and JD Wetherspoon.
