DANISH poppers Alphabeat sprang onto the scene last year delighting the charts with tracks like Fascination’ and “Boyfriend”.
The six-piece — Anders SG, Stine Bramsen, Anders B, Rasmus Nagel, Anders Reinholdt and Troels Hansen - take inspiration from Prefab Sprout and Deacon Blue for their 80s sound with male and female vocals.
New album ‘The Spell’, released next month, showcases a departure from their trademark retro sound towards more dance-vibe tracks.
The group have mastered the art of mixing old with new to create modern sounding, uptempo tunes that you just can’t help but tap your feet to.
They wrote and produced the entire album themselves after holing up in a basement studio for several months and experimenting with record samples and retro synth programming.
Alphabeat also enlisted the services of six-time Grammy award winning mixer Serban Ghenea to finish off their masterpiece.
For a hit of their poptastic power head to Manchester’s Club Academy on Saturday.
