A SECURITY guard was threatened with a gun during an armed robbery in Chadderton.
The victim was carrying a cash box out of B&Q in Westhulme Way at 2pm on Monday, October 26, when two men appeared on a moto-cross bike.
The man on the back of the bike jumped off and pointed a handgun at the guard.
Fearing for his safety, he dropped the cash box and the robber picked it up and rode away.
A few minutes later the bike was abandoned in Westwood Park and it is believed they then fled in a silver car.
The offenders have been described as being dressed in dark clothing and wearing full black motorcycle helmets.
Detective Constable Mike Hayman, of Oldham CID, said: “This was an absolutely terrifying experience for that guard and the offenders have stolen a substantial amount of money.
“We’re doing all we can to try and find the men responsible for this, but we need the public’s help.
“Two Asian men spoke to a park worker after seeing the offenders escape. It is vital that they come forward as I believe they will have some crucial information for us.
“I’d also urge anyone else who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area before or after the robbery to contact us.”
Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0161-856 8954 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555 111.
