Relatives of a Mossley man killed in action in Malaya 50 years ago are being sought by the Royal British Legion.
Mossley councillor Ann Etchells, who is the local legion’s Ladies’ Section secretary, is trying to contact any relatives of Guardsman John Ronald Hall, known as Ronnie, who was in the 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards. He died on March 12, 1949, aged only 20. Ronnie lived at Quickedge Road, Mossley and attended St Joseph’s Church and school. His sister may have moved to Oldham some years ago. Contact Councillor Etchells on 01457-833356.
