Match-funding Rotary pledge to schools
Date published: 11 November 2009
Step up to the Challenge — and double your charity money.
That’s the promise from the Oldham Evening Chronicle and Oldham Metro Rotary Club which today launch a new schools’ initiative.
Step Up to the Challenge! is organised by the Rotary club to get schools to raise money for their chosen charity or good cause, which the club will then match £ for £ to a maximum of £150.
And schools taking part can also boost that total by another £500 by collecting tokens from the Evening Chronicle in the new year.
The funding boost comes after this year’s successful Saddleworth Show, organised by Rotary members and sponsored by the Chronicle.
The club’s project chairman, Frank Bolger, said: “The success of Saddleworth Show means that the club has a fund of money to give to good causes. What better way to distribute this money than through local schools that are actively raising money for good causes anyway?”
Schools can register now and get their funding packs. The final date for entries is January 31, with money raising schemes starting in January and finishing in March.
Schools should contact Frank Bolger at frankandcarolbolger@tesco.net , or ring 0161-620 9543 or 07764-588584.
