Fitton Hill centre gets go-ahead

WORK is expected to begin on building a £4.5 million neighbourhood centre in Fitton Hill early next year.
Oldham Council has given the green light to plans for the centre and a temporary health facility in Hollinwood.
The state-of-the-art Fitton Hill development, in Fircroft Road, should be completed and open to the public by spring 2011.
It will bring together health services, including GPs and dentists, and council services such as a library and youth centre. It will be open every day from 9am to 6pm.
The centre is part of New Deal for the Community’s ongoing work in Fitton Hill which will see new homes, businesses and shops, as well as sport and community facilities.
The temporary health centre in Hollinwood will be based in Hawthorn Road, housing a GP practice. It is one of four new GP practices in Oldham, which were announced last April.
It is due to be fully open by the end of the year and will remain in place for around two to three years while a permanent medical centre is developed close by.
