Gallery cafe’s race against the clock
Date published: 17 November 2009
Speedy building work is being carried out to re-open a cafe at Gallery Oldham in time for Christmas.
Oldham Council has accepted a £97,000 tender to re-open the ground-floor space which has been closed for three years.
There was originally a cafe when the gallery opened in 2002. It later became the 360 bar, hosting late-night dance club nights.
Oldham Council ended the lease in 2006. The area has been empty ever since.
Manchester firm DH Welton has been chosen from three bidders to carry out the work.
Councillors want the cafe up and running by December 19.
