Recycling is made easier

HOUSEHOLDERS in Oldham will now find it easier to recycle their unwanted items, thanks to extensive renovation at the Arkwright Street Household Waste Recycling Centre.
The scheme has made it easier for householders to find their way around the site, with new signs and improved traffic management, along with shorter waiting times in a bid to encourage more recycling.
The revamp forms part of the Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority’s aim to provide world-class waste facilities.
Resident Michael Davies was among the first to use the service after the doors opened last month.
He said: “It’s excellent. It is a vast improvement and much more organised to make it easier for users like myself.”
Another resident, Tara Harrison, said she was pleased with the number of people on site to lend a helping hand.
The improvements are part of a move to help Greater Manchester hit a 50 per cent target of recycling and composting all household waste by 2020.
