FANS rushed to Bolton comedy genius Peter Kay’s website as they raced for the chance to grab tickets to his first new shows in seven years.
On Monday, Kay announced a return to live shows with shows at the Manchester Arena.
Millenium Travel have been appointed the exclusive travel partners for the shows and readers can book through the Chronicle website.
“I have loads of material,’ he told his local newspaper today. “I have been constantly writing stuff down over the past seven years and lots has happened since then — things like Facebook, iPhones, Sky Plus. And I’ve become a dad.
“The bottom line is that I believe first and foremost I am a stand-up comedian. It’s something I developed in school, making people laugh and talking about the things that I see as a I go along.”

Since the Manchester dates are all he has currently announced, he is calling his new live shows The Tour That Didn’t Tour — Tour!
Kay got the urge to perform live again while writing his recent book, “Saturday Night Peter”, and planned new shows last year.
They didn’t come off and he instead made his hugely-successful TV spoof of The X Factor — recently out on DVD.
Last time Kay toured – his “My Mum wants a Bungalow” tour - his initial selection of dates ran to 180 shows over two years, and ended with one of the biggest homecoming gigs ever seen at the Manchester Arena, seen by 9,000 people.
