ALL IN THIS TOGETHER . . . the Prince’s Trust team are joined by children and their mothers at the Royton Children’s Centre.
FROM raising the money for materials to painting fences, volunteers took control of every part of a revamp project in Royton.
The group – who are all on the Prince’s Trust Team Programme – chose to give Royton Children's Centre a makeover.
The 16 to 25-year-olds raised funds with a bag pack at Tesco’s Huddersfield Road store in Oldham and a car wash at Gordon Riggs Garden Centre in Rochdale.
Then they braved tough weather conditions in their quest to improve the Blackshaw Lane building by weeding the flowerbeds, planting flowers, building bird boxes and putting up a storage shed.
The group also painted the fencing and built a living willow dome which youngsters can use as a den.
Tom Mills, the Prince’s Trust Team Leader, said: “The team have worked really hard.
“They found the project by themselves, they raised all the money and they’ve done a cracking job of completing it.
“Not only will this project benefit the local community, it has also increased the skills and teamwork abilities of the young people.”
Having successfully completed the project, the team members will now undergo a two-week placement to gain work experience.
