Let there be light
Date published: 23 November 2009
Oldham’s Festival of Light is expected to attract a bumper audience again this year at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
The evening marks the festivals of Christmas, Hindu Diwali, Jewish Chanukah and Muslim Eid-Ul-Adha, which all use lights and candles as part of their celebrations.
The aim is to bring people of various faiths and diverse backgrounds together, sharing in each others’ festivals.
Held on December 2, the sixth annual event includes a free buffet and entertainment from different faiths, including carols, dance, poetry and music.
Demand for places is high and they can be booked by contacting Fazal Rahim, of the Interfaith Forum, at 40 Union Street, OL8 1DL, Tel/Fax 0161-624 6733, or e-mail Oldham_interfaith@msn.com
