TNT scheme to blow chief away

Oldham Council chief executive Charlie Parker will get a grilling from a successful community group when he visits Medlock Vale next month.
Mr Parker has been invited by The Neighbourhood Team (TNT), which began in the Fitton Hill and Hathershaw New Deal for Communities’ area.
Now TNT covers the whole ward and has attracted national interest from the Home Office’s respect tsar, Louise Casey. The meeting is to show Mr Parker how the Medlock Vale ward used to look and how it has improved.
He will hear about the five pioneering Neighbourhood Agreements, covering crime and disorder, housing, the environment, community issues and health. TNT has also trained 100 so-called street reps to monitor conditions in their neighbourhood and report on issues like litter and anti-social behaviour.
TNT chairman Abid Jaweed said: “We are very excited about Mr Parker visiting the group as we have put so much into this project and we are all volunteers.
“We do hope that he will show us the continuing support we have always had from Oldham Council and in return we will help others to achieve the success we have had.”
Mr Parker will be at the TNT executive meeting on December 15.
